Trompe l’œil, in painting the representation of an object that is so close to reality that the viewer is deceived about the material reality of the object. The artist H. Hastner, inspired by comparable still lifes by Dutch masters, discovered a section of his studio wall as an attractive motif. With perfect mastery of all representational possibilities, he succeeds in creating the intended optical illusion. In my performance, the art of deception is understood as a game with perception and questioned in relation to our virtual reality.
