In her multidisciplinary works, Berlin-based artist Lucia Schautz explores human identity as a physical and mental creative process. Her compositions thematise processes of perception and involve the viewer in a scenic interplay of lines and surfaces, figuration and abstraction, proximity and distance.

Schautz studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart and received an art fellowship in Paris. In 2013, she made her debut on the art market with large-format portraits with two one-artist shows and a sold-out exhibition at Galerie Sybille Mang. But it was only many years later that she redefined her artistic identity and found her authentic voice.
